Main Message: “The bill would prevent Missouri National Guard members from being sent into overseas combat unless Congress has declared war or the United States is directly attacked, as the Constitution requires. It protects our Guard members and reinforces their primary mission to serve Missouri. Could you please consider supporting or co-sponsoring this legislation?”

Missouri National Guard members volunteer to serve and protect our state and nation, but they have too often been deployed into prolonged overseas conflicts without a formal declaration of war by Congress. This bill would ensure Missouri Guard units are only sent into active combat overseas when Congress has declared war or when there is a direct attack on our homeland, as required by the Constitution.
